The Saarinen Tulip Table was designed between 1954 - 1957. The tables were introduced as the “Pedestal Series” along with a range of other furniture pieces that included chairs and stools. In the design of the series, Saarinen wanted to use a singular material, preferably plastic, for both the bases and tops of the various tables. At the time, though, technology had not been able to achieve polymers strong enough to support these tables. Even though it is possible to make tulip tables today, they are still made the way they were initially in the 1950s, with cast aluminum. Eero Saarinen did achieve his goal of doing away with the “slum of legs” through this timeless design.
Our Saarinen Tables are a masterful Italian-made reproduction of the original Saarinen pedestal table. Close attention is paid to the workmanship of the stone and base, which creates a modern classic that lasts for years. The Saarinen tabletop is available in a wide variety of stones and laminates, including the ever-popular white Carrara and black Marquina. Add this beautiful piece of Saarinen furniture to your home today.
This Saarinen Table has a lacquered cast aluminum base in white, black, or silver. The Saarinen Table base is treated with a clear protective finish to resist scratches, stains, and scuffs. Stone tops are protected with a natural wax finish or finished with a protective polyester sheet.
